FCC queries AT&T, Apple on Google Voice iPhone app rejection

Filed under: Handsets, ATT, Apple Yeah, we’re pretty much all peeved by Apple suddenly ejecting all traces of Google Voice from the app store, but now it looks to have drawn the ire of the Federal Communications Commission, as well. According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, the agency has sent out three letters, one each to Apple, AT&T, and Google.

MobileMe iDisk App for iPhone Released

Apple has finally released MobileMe iDisk app for iPhone which was unveiled at Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in early June. The iDisk will allow MobileMe subscribers to easily browse and view files stored on their iDisk and share files with others via integrated e-mail links rather than sending huge file attachment.

Hacker Claims iPhone 3GS Encryption Feature is Useless

During the third quarter 2009 earnings conference call, Apple’s Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook had mentioned: “We’re seeing growing interest with the release of iPhone 3.0 and the iPhone 3GS due in part to the new hardware encryption and improved security policies.” But according iPhone hacking expert, Jonathan Zdziarski the new iPhone 3GS hardware encryption feature is “broken” when it comes to protecting sensitive information. Jonathan “NerveGas” Zdziarski had released a hack that made dual-booting possible even on the iPhone (running on older firmware) and has been credited for the iPhone hack which gives you the ability to tether the iPhone to use its EDGE network from your laptop to surf the internet

AT&T CEO admits iPhone won’t be exclusive forever

Filed under: Handsets, ATT, Apple It may not be all that shocking from a common sense point of view, but AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson’s statement that “there will be a day when you are not exclusive with the iPhone” is still quite a departure from anything he’s said in the past and, given the stakes involved, pretty darn notable. That word came at Fortune’s now happening Brainstorm: Tech conference, where Stephenson unsurprisingly didn’t elaborate on any negotiations with Apple, and only went so far as to say that he thinks AT&T’s partnership with Apple “works really, really well — maybe as well as any strategic partnership we have.” Of course, none of that means exclusivity is going away anytime soon, and you can pretty safely bet that AT&T will keep on pushing as long as it can.

Warning: Major Flaw with Push Notification Fix for Jailbroken iPhones

One of the known issues with the jailbroken iPhone running iPhone OS 3.0 is that it disables the Push Notification feature. The iPhone Dev Team had released a fix to resolve the issue. However, German developer and founder of Equinux has discovered a major flaw with the Push Notification fix.
