If you are one of those BlackBerry souls who had recently migrated to iPhone and found the touchscreen a tad too difficult to negotiate, here is something that will get you nostalgic. Mobile Mechatronics, a Toronto based company has launched iTwinge, a physical keyboard that you may tug on to the bottom of your iPhone screen so that you now have a real physical QWERTY keyboard to type. No more fat-finger syndromes!
iTwinge does not require you to install any sort of software on your iPhone and can seamlessly work on the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS handsets. It apparently uses a little bit of the phone’s power, but the takeaway folks at Mobile Mechatronics claim is a 30-40 percent increase in your typing speeds coupled with typing errors reduced by as much as 70-80%.

How does it actually work? The manufacturers have chosen not to divulge too much information about that for the moment since their ‘Twinge Technology™’ is currently pending patent. This product comes at a price of $29.95 excluding shipments and shipping is expected to begin by November 12. If you are looking for an AZERTY keyboard, let them know. The manufacturers offer to make AZERTY versions based on customer interest.
Since the product is still not out in the markets, it’s not clear about how good iTwinge performs in helping you type better and more efficiently. However the manufacturers themselves claim that new users to iTwinge will initially feel uncomfortable until they learn to operate using it; till a time they learn to train their muscle memory.
